Thompson reveals the perfectly formed VantageXL+ First at AIX

At AIX 2026 Thompson Aero Seating (TAS) is revealing its new VantageXL+ First seat for the very first time.

The VantageXL+ was recently introduced, designed specifically for the wider A350 and B787platforms. Now, TAS is revealing the option of an enhanced front row – VantageXL+ First. This curvilinear suite has been designed to bring a first-class experience to the VantageXL+, offering airlines differentiation and the opportunity to provide an extremely luxurious experience for passengers.

Andy Morris, Chief Commercial Officer for Thompson Aero Seating, said: “VantageXL+ First is our widest suite yet. It has been designed and engineered specifically to maximise every inch of the wider A350 and B787 platforms, meaning that the enhanced front row, which Thompson was the first to introduce back in 2017 as its First Class for Free option, is able to provide exceptional space and socialising possibilities.”

As with all TAS’s enhanced front rows, the VantageXL+ First enables dual and quad socialising and dining for a truly unforgettable flight experience. This has been termed ‘First Class for Free’ as TAS has made this enhanced suite possible, built seamlessly into the business-class cabin, with no loss of density.

VantageXL+ First features extended bed-level cushioning, resulting in an incredibly comfortable resting and sleeping position. There is a floating outboard armrest and a cocktail surface, as well as a customisable console area and many stowage options. The VantageXL+ First also has the option for a zero-g seating position. An enhanced optional seat height ‘halo’ increases passenger privacy.

Curved to add space

Clever curves and sculpting enable TAS to give space back the passenger in the VantageXL+ First. Reprofiled forward corners allow the seat to sit further forward in the cabin. The suite has been restyled with softer forms and greater use of textiles to give an extremely comfortable look and, of course, feel. The enhancements provide more room across the passenger’s shoulders and hips.

The latest generation buddy seat is wider too, with a simple deployment mechanism and a new wrap-around cushion. Storage has been brought closer to the passenger for easier access and the suites accommodate up to 32” monitors.

Andy Morris concluded: “VantageXL+ First really is a special seat that gives more in so many ways. We are looking forward to demonstrating it to visitors to our stand at AIX.”
